A valid passport and visa are required for business travel to Kenya. The government of Kenya has introduced an e-Visa, which is an electronic visa and can be obtained online without submitting the original passport. To apply online for a Kenyan visa, simply fill out Travisa’s online form.

Due to heavy volume of online requests, traditional visa applications may currently also be filed at the Embassy of Kenya.

To apply for a traditional visa

Passport Requirements:

Original, signed US passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, with at least one blank passport page available for visa stamp(s). Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps.

Kenyan Visa Application Form:

One original Kenya visa application form, properly completed and signed, plus one copy.

Photo Requirements:

Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs in color, front view and with a plain/white background.


OR - you can upload a passport photo to the Global Service Order Form when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

Other Forms:

Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets.

Business Letter

Letter from employer or sponsoring company in the US, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant's employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Kenya. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant, specify number of entries and validity requested, and must provide detailed contact information in Kenya.

Letter of Intent:

If requesting a five year visa, a letter of intent outlining the applicant’s purpose of travel to Kenya, the length of intended stay in Kenya, reason a five year visa is requested, name of places to be visited, contact information in Kenya, and accommodation information for upcoming trip.

Global Service Order Form:

This is Travisa's service order form, where you will provide your contact and shipping information, choose the visa processing needed and make your payment. You must print the completed form and send it to Travisa with all other supporting documents.

Adult applicants may apply for a traditional visa, which is a stamp inside the passport, or they can apply for an e-Visa, which is an electronic visa and can be obtained online without submitting the original passport. (Minors are not eligible for the Kenyan e-Visa.) To apply for a traditional Kenya visa, please see Tourist Visa or Business Visa requirements. Minors:

Children under 16 are not eligible for the Kenya eVisa. They must apply for the traditional visa, which Travisa can process through the embassy or consulate. Minors are, however, exempt from paying the consular fee.

Special Instructions:

The Kenya e-Visa is issued and stored electronically. The traveler will not receive any document in the mail; the e-Visa will be sent as an attachment (via email).
